Although agroforestry is an adaptation tool with associated environmental co-benefits for rain-dependent swidden farmers (Quandt et al., 2019; Wilson and Lovell, 2016), many interventions to promote smallholder adoption have low uptake (Rahman et al., 2017) or have high rates of disadoption after initial commitment (Frey et al., 2013).
